
While it may not seem like DNA is related to fighting fat after 40, it actually has a lot more to do with it than you can image. I think many of us are predestined to a certain degree. Like it or not, as much as we can fight off the battle of the bulge, a lot of comes down to our genes and what our ancestors bestowed upon us, the good, the bad, and the fat.

Body weight and size may be over 80% genetically determined. That still gives us plenty of control but also means some of us will never be model figures.
I think that's an important point. C. (whom I mention here a lot since she has lost over 100 lbs. and is a good friend of mine) is decended from Russian ancestors. All her family members, especially the woman, were/are on the large size. She has to constantly remind herself of this because she realizes she is fighting against her genes.
